A Story with Each Dish

Somehow, the phrase, Eat All, has defined my time in the Philippines so far. This phrase encompasses the deeply rooted importance that food has in this country, not only as sustenance but as an offering of their love.

My nanay, or host mother, will keep out my fish from breakfast in case a family member or friend stops by and happens to be hungry. I have yet to see a single person actually come in to eat, so it seems as if the nobility is simply in the gesture itself.

Many of my experiences, relationships, and memories are already bonded to a dish or meal in my mind. In this blog, I will go through these formative foods and tell the stories that have been formed around them so far with my time in the Philippines.

Try Everything.

Read about it. In order please.

Friends behind the food.

Here are some besties. Any meal or snack I am eating, picture these people right there with me.
